About Sarah!

Hello

My name is Sarah and I am the Celebrant in Merseyside that runs Moments To… so named because I create ceremonies that give you Moments To… remember, celebrate, rejoice…

I am an ex-English teacher, new mum, gardener, box-set watching, sci-fi loving Family and Funeral Celebrant who finds people endlessly fascinating. My job means I get to ask questions and listen to people’s stories and memories, hopes and dreams, challenges and successes. And I am very happy to travel as a Celebrant around Merseyside and beyond to do it.

Writing ceremonies to help people mark important life events is somewhat of a privilege. It’s all about helping people find the words at a time when their emotions can seem overwhelming.

The moment is about you and your family – be they blood relatives or people you have collected over your lifetime.

Why I became a celebrant

With over 15 years of experience teaching English, both in the UK and abroad to various age groups, I wanted the same job satisfaction, but with a lot less marking.

Enter UKSoC (UK’s Society of Celebrants) with its celebrant training programme. Being able to meet and help people express their feelings and give them an opportunity to clarify their ideas makes being a celebrant both a challenging and rewarding role…just like teaching!

Why have a celebrant?

A celebrant ceremony offers you so much more. You have a choice of venues, of rituals and traditions! You can involve family and friends and even pets. And you can take advantage of the talents that these people and animals have, such as singing and dancing and include these in your ceremony.

My job is

  • to help make your ceremony happen; to give your emotions words
  • to give your ideas clarity
  • and to make sure that these moments are memorable for all the best reasons

I am also a licensed PADI scuba-diver – underwater ceremony anyone?
And I am happy to be indoors or out.

On the water, below the waves, and even floating around the sky.
See how those venue ideas just got bigger?

Let’s make this the ceremony people remember for all the best reasons. I will take my lead from you.

Special Moments to Celebrate

With weddings and vow renewals, helping you find the perfect words to express your love is a fantastic challenge.

Involving the WHOLE family in naming ceremonies makes the day extra special for everyone – and I have many ideas to make that happen.

While mixing respect and memorable anecdotes about a loved one who has died is what defines my writing style, for burials, cremations, and celebrations of life.

And if you have other events in your life that need marking – adopting a child, divorce, a “This is Your Life” moment for a birthday or anniversary, get in touch so we can make that happen.

Remember, why be ordinary when you can be unique?

Happy couples & families.

Wedding - Yew Tree Farm, Liverpool

Our celebrant, Sarah, was only able to speak to us via Zoom prior to conducting our wedding ceremony as we were still under covid restrictions at the time. Despite this, she was able to put together a 30-minute ceremony that perfectly reflected our relationship history. She conducted the ceremony with humour but was also sincere in her delivery. Sarah also produced an attractive certificate to commemorate our event.

All in all, the ceremony was of the perfect length and content. I would heartily recommend Sarah as a celebrant.

Wedding - The Cloisters, Bolton

Sarah at Moments To… was a brilliant celebrant for our wedding in early August 2021. We had to change our plans due to the pandemic and my husband was initially hesitant about a celebrant wedding.
We had our legal ceremony before our celebrant ceremony, and we are so glad we decided to use a celebrant. The legal ceremony was so impersonal and seemed rushed compared to the celebrant wedding.
Sarah was fantastic, she answered all our questions and took our story and made it into a wonderful celebration of our love including all the wedding bits. She incorporated our likes and hobbies, making the whole experience fun and light-hearted, which is just what we were looking for. Sarah was open to suggestions and was great at helping us find the right words to say.
We had so many comments about how brilliant Sarah and the ceremony were, from how engaging and personal it was, to how fun and completely unique.
Sarah is such a friendly person we couldn’t have asked for a better celebrant for our wedding!

Wedding - Holmes Mill, Clitheroe

I honestly couldn’t ask for a better person to help guide us through this process. Sarah made our whole ceremony so personal not knowing how a celebrant lead wedding looked or how it went, she really took the time to get to know us as a couple on a personal level and that really shone through her lovely words on our big day!

Thank you so much Sarah x

Wedding - Llandegla Forest, Wales

Having a celebrant led wedding allowed us to have a tailored ceremony for both our personalities. Sarah worked with us as a couple on the ceremony and individually on a set of vows that reflected exactly how we feel about each other but in our own individual ways. Our vows were a surprise to each other on the day.

Sarah was approachable from the start and instantly understood where we were coming from. It was like Sarah took our thoughts and turned them into words in ways we couldn't have done ourselves and we wouldn't change a thing.

Sarah was supportive throughout and on the day was a calming influence. Thank you for helping make our big day so special!

Naming Ceremony - Leeds

We couldn’t have been happier with the service that Sarah provided. Sarah tailored it beautifully to make it personal and able to reflect our family’s personality. She’s so kind and calm which is perfect in the midst of the panic that comes with organising any event. The ceremony went perfectly, and everyone commented on how wonderful Sarah was. Thank you for making our day so special.

Vow Renewal - St Helens, Merseyside

Sarah from the start was friendly, meeting with us a couple of times to understand us as a couple to be able to write our ceremony, and gave us the chance to change anything we were not happy with.

On the day Sarah was lovely, she came to see how we were and talked us through what was to happen.

Our ceremony itself which she had written was absolutely perfect, we couldn’t have asked for anything better, and we have a treasured copy she gave us to keep.

I would 100% wholeheartedly recommend Sarah.
